Description
Nebraska DHHS’s Division of Children and Family Services administers SNAP Next Step Employment and Training through partnerships with service providers. The program funds employment and training services for SNAP recipients who voluntarily participate, helping them develop skills aligned with their interests, career goals, and employers’ needs. Its goals include stable employment paying a family-supporting wage, increased independence, and reduced reliance on public assistance.
Supported work includes orientation, individualized assessments and employment plans, supervised job search, job readiness training, basic education, career or technical training, and on-the-job training. Partners also provide enhanced case management, advising, navigation, referrals, and job retention support. Expansion efforts focus first on Lincoln, then other Nebraska communities and additional partners in existing service areas.
