The Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) runs this pilot grant program to improve treatment opportunities for patients in underrepresented and/or underserved populations. Its scope includes any disease that disproportionately affects an underrepresented population, with support for research focused on these populations and health disparities.
Projects may also develop education and training that explain health care access and available treatment or diagnostic options to underrepresented populations. Training can focus on helping others better assist these populations in obtaining health care. Advocacy, dissemination, and outreach are also within the program’s scope. The grant emphasizes improving minority health and eliminating health disparities through integrative approaches.
