SNMMI Medical & Science Student Research Grants support medical and science students in molecular imaging and therapy research to build research skills and explore careers in nuclear medicine.
Funder: Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging
Due Dates: October 15, 2026 (Applications open) | January 20, 2027 (Application deadline)
Funding Amounts: $5,000 per student for a 10-week research project
Summary: Supports medical and science students in molecular imaging and therapy research to develop research skills and explore nuclear medicine careers.
Key Information: The applicant’s scientific advisor or co-investigator must be a dues-paying SNMMI member.
The Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) supports high-achieving medical and science students through early research experience in nuclear medicine, molecular imaging, and targeted radionuclide therapy. The program introduces these fields as potential career paths before students select a residency or during their first two years of graduate school. It responds to expanding technologies and the need for trained physicians and scientists, while addressing students’ often-late exposure to nuclear medicine.
Students undertake a research project of their choosing, define objectives, and develop research skills for their careers. Any area of molecular medical and science imaging research is eligible, including clinical investigation, drug or device development, comparative effectiveness, basic research, quality improvement, artificial intelligence, and imaging informatics.
