Description
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) administers this fund to maintain and develop snowmobile trails within Michigan’s designated statewide system. It supports seasonal grooming, brushing and signing; landowner agreements for public trails; special maintenance such as bridge repairs, erosion control, culvert replacement and relocation off plowed roads; and replacement of trail-maintenance equipment.
The program aims to sustain publicly accessible trails and develop an interconnected network of groomed routes and permanent trail corridors. DNR assigns the trails each sponsor maintains. Its Trails System and Services Section administers the program, with support from the Grants Finance Management Section.
