The Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology (SOAP) and the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) jointly offer this mentored research training grant to develop the next generation of obstetric anesthesiology and perinatology physician-investigators. The program helps early-career anesthesiologists build research skills and preliminary data needed to become independent investigators and compete for federal research funding.
The grant supports all areas of research that contribute to knowledge about the health of pregnant women and their babies. Its scope includes research, education, and best practices in obstetric anesthesia care that advance and advocate for maternal and infant health. A senior, experienced mentor and a rigorous career development plan are central to the award.
