Summary: Travel support for student presenters attending the SEM Annual Meeting, selected for abstract quality and geographic diversity.
Key Information: Applicants must have an accepted Annual Meeting presentation, current-year SEM membership, and conference registration.
The Society for Ethnomusicology (SEM) provides five annual Student Travel Awards to help students presenting at its Annual Meeting cover travel costs. This is support for attendance at the meeting, rather than funding for a separate research project. Applicants must already have received acceptance of their Annual Meeting presentation abstract before applying.
The Annual Meeting Program Committee serves as the Travel Fund Award Committee and reviews accepted presenters who request consideration. Selection is based on the quality of presentation abstracts, with the final group of five recipients also intended to represent diverse geographic regions. Recipients must confirm their commitment to attend the meeting and receive their awards there.
