The Society of Actuaries (SOA) Research Institute seeks researchers to conduct a comprehensive study of AI-enabled policyholder behavior and its implications for the life insurance industry. As consumer AI tools become more accessible, policyholders may use them to understand policy provisions, optimize premiums, loans, withdrawals and claims, and identify features that maximize their financial outcomes.
The research will examine how these changes could affect product performance, risk management and product design. Potential topics include behavior across the policy lifecycle, products vulnerable to AI-driven optimization, changes in actuarial assumptions, emerging anti-selection risks and methods for quantifying them. The study may also explore more resilient pricing and product design strategies, alongside ways insurers can use AI to improve customer experience, manage risk and maintain a competitive advantage.
