Funder: Society of Toxicology
Due Dates: August 14, 2026 (Opens) | January 8, 2027 (Nomination deadline)
Funding Amounts: Engraved plaque; recognition of career achievement rather than research project funding
Summary: Recognizes a senior investigator’s outstanding contributions to the toxicology and safety assessment of biotechnology-derived products.
Key Information: Nominees must have at least 15 years of experience since obtaining their highest-earned degree.
The Society of Toxicology’s Biotechnology Specialty Section (BTSS) presents this award to a senior investigator whose body of work represents outstanding achievement in scientifically relevant approaches to, and interpretation of, toxicological aspects unique to biotechnology-derived products. It recognizes career achievement rather than supporting a proposed research project.
The award considers both scientific contributions and broader influence on biotechnology product safety assessment. Its priorities include the depth, breadth, and significance of an investigator’s work; education, training, and mentorship of young scientists in government, industry, or academia; leadership and service to the field; and influence on regulatory and risk or safety assessment decisions.
