Colgate-Palmolive Grant for Alternative Research supports scientists developing non-animal methods to assess the safety of new chemicals and formulations and replace animal use in research.
Funder: Society of Toxicology
Due Dates (Anticipated): October 2027 (Application deadline)
Funding Amounts: Up to $40,000, paid as a single lump sum
Summary: Supports scientists developing, refining, or validating non-animal methods for assessing the safety of new chemicals and formulations.
Key Information: Research cannot use animals, animal sacrifice to source cells, or cells derived from human embryos.
Administered by the Society of Toxicology (SOT), the Colgate-Palmolive Grant for Alternative Research supports scientifically acceptable alternatives to animal methods for assessing the safety of new chemicals and formulations. Scientists at any career stage may propose work that promotes, develops, refines, or validates these methods.
The program gives high priority to in vitro or non-animal models in reproductive and developmental toxicology, neurotoxicology, systemic toxicology, sensitization, and acute toxicity. Projects must have the potential to advance their field and influence future experiments by replacing animal use in research. Selection emphasizes scientific quality, originality, feasibility, and the applicant’s capacity to conduct the proposed work. Colgate-Palmolive also prefers non-animal serum and antibodies, including chemically defined media and non-animal recombinant antibodies.
