The Colgate-Palmolive Award for Student Research Training in Alternative Methods, administered by the Society of Toxicology (SOT), helps graduate students develop expertise in methods that replace animals in toxicological research and testing. Training may include in vitro techniques, computer modeling, and structure-activity relationships. The experience should enhance the student’s thesis or dissertation research while advancing alternatives to currently used animal models.
Students may train at a laboratory outside their home institution, or at a home-institution laboratory offering training otherwise unavailable to them. Approved workshops, symposia, and continuing education programs providing hands-on experience are also supported. Colgate-Palmolive prefers non-animal serum and antibodies, including chemically defined media and non-animal recombinant antibodies.
