The Society of Toxicology (SOT) presents the Distinguished Toxicology Scholar Award to a Society member whose substantial and seminal scientific contributions have advanced understanding of toxicology. It recognizes achievement in the field rather than supporting a proposed research project. Nominees should be active scientists involved in toxicological research, and scientific accomplishment is the prime consideration.
The award combines a cash stipend with formal recognition at the SOT Annual Meeting. The recipient receives a commemorative plaque at the SOT Awards Ceremony and an invitation to deliver the Distinguished Toxicology Scholar Award Lecture at the Annual Meeting in the year the award is given.
