The Society of Toxicology (SOT) awards Honorary Membership to nonmembers who have demonstrated outstanding and sustained achievements in toxicology and/or allied disciplines. The honor recognizes a record of career accomplishment rather than supporting a proposed research study, project, or specified scientific outcome. Honorary Membership is bestowed at the Society’s Annual Meeting.
The program is administered through the Nominating Committee for Honorary Members and SOT Council. The committee reviews nominations and recommends candidates to the Council, which determines recipients through a two-thirds vote. No more than two Honorary Members may be elected during any one Council term.
