The Society of Toxicology’s Internship Program Support funds additional undergraduate internships to encourage students to pursue toxicology. Administered by the Education and Experiential Opportunities Committee (EEOC), the program supports both new and existing summer research programs offering high-quality research in toxicology or closely related fields under an SOT member’s guidance.
The program emphasizes strong research mentorship, clear research goals, and professional development that complements laboratory work. Hosts must describe recruitment efforts reaching students typically underrepresented in science and those interested in graduate study in toxicology. Evaluation, intern feedback, and follow-up tracking are also central to the program. Institutions select their supported interns using their stated methods and are encouraged to carefully consider students accepted for the SOT Undergraduate Diversity Program.
