The Society of Toxicology’s IRSS Career Achievement Award honors a senior investigator whose body of work represents outstanding achievement in respiratory and inhalation toxicology. Rather than supporting a new research project, the award recognizes the importance of an investigator’s contributions to advancing the field through an engraved plaque.
The award considers both scientific accomplishments and contributions beyond research. Its four dimensions of achievement are the breadth and depth of scientific contributions; education, training, and mentorship of young scientists; leadership and service to the field; and influence on regulatory and public health decisions. Preference is given to Specialty Section and SOT members at large, but the primary selection criterion is the importance of the investigator’s contribution to inhalation and respiratory toxicology.
