The Society of Toxicology’s Inhalation and Respiratory Specialty Section (IRSS) presents this award to the student whose abstract best addresses the environmental health issues central to Dr. Mary Amdur’s career. A pioneer in air pollution toxicology, Dr. Amdur overcame gender, political, and scientific barriers to advance recognition of interactions between specific air pollutants.
The award recognizes research described in a pending abstract for a platform or poster presentation at the SOT Annual Meeting. Applications emphasize the study’s rationale, significance, and student contribution, alongside its relationship to Dr. Amdur’s scientific legacy. Scientific achievement, contributions to respiratory and inhalation toxicology, collaboration, initiative, leadership, and service also feature in the application. The award is supported by the Mary Amdur Student Award Fund of the SOT Endowment.
