Summary: Recognizes a senior investigator’s outstanding career contributions to immunotoxicology, including scientific advances, mentorship, leadership, and regulatory impact.
Key Information: Nominees must be at least 20 years beyond their highest degree and cannot be previous recipients.
The Society of Toxicology’s Immunotoxicology Specialty Section (ITSS) presents this lifetime achievement award to a senior investigator whose body of work represents an outstanding career in immunotoxicology. It honors career accomplishments rather than funding a new research project. The greatest emphasis is on the depth, breadth, and significance of scientific contributions that advance the field.
The award also recognizes education, training, and mentorship of young scientists in government, industry, and academia; leadership and service to the immunotoxicology community; and influence on regulatory decisions and risk or safety assessments. Candidates are nominated through a package documenting their career contributions. The recipient receives an engraved plaque, and the nominator prepares presentation slides and a brief account of the recipient’s accomplishments.
