The Society of Toxicology’s In Vitro and Alternative Methods Specialty Section (IVAMSS) recognizes outstanding graduate student and postdoctoral research in in vitro and alternative methods in toxicology. These awards are linked to abstracts submitted for the SOT Annual Meeting and recognize contributions from both career stages.
The specialty section’s interests include basic toxicological and pharmacological mechanisms across organ systems, alongside the design, development, and application of in vitro and alternative methodologies for predictive toxicology and risk assessment. Its overarching goal is to encourage sound science-based test systems as rapid, cost-effective alternatives to animal testing. The awards focus specifically on work in these methodologies, rather than toxicology research broadly.
