Funding Amounts: Cash stipend and plaque
Summary: Recognizes a scientist whose recent basic research has advanced understanding of fundamental toxicity mechanisms and may broadly influence toxicology.
Key Information: Nominees may be SOT members or nonmembers, but both supporting letters must come from active Full SOT members.
The Society of Toxicology (SOT) presents this award to a respected basic scientist whose research within the past five years has made a seminal contribution to understanding fundamental mechanisms of toxicity. It recognizes an established scientific contribution rather than supporting a proposed research project. The central consideration is the contribution’s potential for a pervasive, lasting impact on toxicology.
The award welcomes toxicologists and scientists who do not identify with the discipline of toxicology. The recipient receives a cash stipend and a plaque at the SOT Annual Meeting Awards Ceremony, along with an invitation to deliver the Leading Edge in Basic Science Award Lecture at the Annual Meeting at which the award is given.
