Funding Amounts: Engraved plaque
Summary: Recognizes outstanding graduate and undergraduate student research in nanoscience and advanced materials.
Key Information: Applicants must submit an accepted SOT abstract and a recommendation from their primary advisor.
The Society of Toxicology’s NAMSS Outstanding Graduate Student Award recognizes student work representing an outstanding achievement in nanoscience and advanced materials. Although named for graduate students, the award is also open to undergraduates. It acknowledges the investigator’s research through an engraved plaque rather than funding a separate proposed project.
The importance of the investigator’s work to the field is the primary selection criterion. Review also considers a clearly stated hypothesis, thorough physicochemical characterization of relevant nanomaterials, quality of data interpretation, potential impact, and presentation style. Preference is given to Specialty Section and SOT members at large, but students in other Specialty Sections are encouraged to apply.
