The North Carolina Society of Toxicology (NCSOT), a regional chapter of the Society of Toxicology, offers the President’s Award for Research Competition (PARC) to recognize research by postgraduate trainees. The NCSOT Executive Committee selects up to three trainees to give judged platform presentations at the chapter’s annual meeting, with awards provided for first, second, and third place.
The competition emphasizes research conducted during the applicant’s current postdoctoral or post-masters training period. Earlier work may provide background or context but should not be the abstract’s central focus. Selection priorities include clarity of methodology and approach, uniqueness and creativity, thoroughness of investigation, sound judgment in interpreting results, and relevance.
