Summary: Recognizes a senior investigator’s influential body of work advancing ocular toxicology through science, mentorship, leadership, or regulatory impact.
Key Information: Nominees must be SOT members, and recipients give an approximately 10-minute presentation at the OTSS reception.
The Society of Toxicology’s Ocular Toxicology Specialty Section (OTSS) recognizes a senior investigator whose influential body of work has advanced ocular toxicology. This is a career achievement award rather than support for a proposed research project. It honors SOT members who are scientists in academia or industry, or who have influenced regulation in the field.
Recognition may reflect the depth, breadth, and significance of scientific contributions; education, training, and mentorship of young scientists; leadership and service; or influence on regulatory and risk/safety assessment decisions. Mentorship contributions may include training in government, industry, or academia, while service may include involvement in OTSS or other ocular toxicology meetings and organizations. Candidates may be nominated by others or nominate themselves.
