Summary: Recognizes authors of a published paper describing techniques or approaches likely to significantly advance risk assessment science.
Key Information: Papers must include at least one SOT member as a co-author; only RASS members may nominate papers.
The Society of Toxicology (SOT), through its Risk Assessment Specialty Section (RASS), recognizes published research that illustrates techniques or approaches likely to significantly advance the science of risk assessment. This award honors an existing paper rather than supporting a proposed research project. Its central priority is the potential of the methods or approaches described to move risk assessment science forward.
Candidate papers are identified through nominations by RASS members and screening of papers published in Toxicological Sciences, SOT’s official journal, for the relevant award year. Nominated papers may be published in any peer-reviewed journal. The Best Paper Award Committee, composed of RASS executive committee members and volunteers, screens, reviews, and scores the candidate papers.
