The honor focuses on a specific scientific contribution made within the past 10 years that has benefited individuals exposed to toxic agents. Scientists from toxicology and other scientific fields may be nominated.
The award particularly values scientists who have led multidisciplinary teams addressing toxicity-related health problems. It recognizes demonstrated health impact, with nomination letters expected to explain how the contribution has improved human or public health. The recipient is recognized at the SOT Annual Meeting Awards Ceremony and invited to deliver the Translational Impact Award Lecture at that meeting.
