The Society of Toxicology’s Women in Toxicology (WIT) Special Interest Group offers this undergraduate award to recognize and encourage women beginning careers in toxicology. It supports education and research-related expenses, including travel to scientific conferences. Selection considers scientific merit alongside outstanding leadership and service to the scientific and toxicology community.
Funded through the WIT endowment, the award honors Anne Wolven Garrett, an early leader in toxicology known for supporting budding toxicologists. Her estate provided the initial support for the program, which pays tribute to past and future female leaders of the Society. Separate Celebrating Women in Toxicology awards serve undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows, with different requirements for each career stage.
