Description
The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) awards Soil and Water Resource Management grants to support county land and water conservation activities. Annual allocations support county staff, structural cost sharing for landowners, nutrient management planning and practices, and conservation engineering needs. County work is guided by approved Land and Water Resource Management Plans.
The program also funds Nutrient Management Farmer Education and statewide cooperators. These awards support education, technical assistance, and coordinated approaches to high-priority soil erosion and water quality problems. For the 2027 allocation, DATCP prioritizes innovative nutrient management planning and implementation projects and continued training and support for conservation staff.
