Description
The SOLA (Support Old Lady Artists) Awards are annual, unrestricted grants of $5,000 each, presented to ten female-identified visual artists aged 60 or older residing in Washington State who have dedicated at least 25 years to their artistic practice. Established to honor lifetime achievement, the awards also address historic inequities in arts funding, with one award specifically designated for a BIPOC artist. Recipients are selected based on artistic excellence, professional background, and sustained commitment to the visual arts, with a strong emphasis on racial equity throughout the review process.
