Description
The South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources offers grants and low-interest loans through the Board of Water and Natural Resources to improve and maintain solid waste disposal and recycling capabilities statewide. Funding comes primarily through the Solid Waste Management Program, which also supports waste tire projects. The program gives grant or loan preference to recycling projects.
Projects may reduce waste at its source, promote recycling and reuse, use waste for energy production, or provide landfill disposal or combustion for volume reduction. They may also address cost savings, public health, or environmental benefits in solid waste management. Disposal projects with groundwater protection features can receive Clean Water State Revolving Fund (SRF) loans as nonpoint source projects.
