The Somatic Mosaicism across Human Tissues (SMaHT) Program is an NIH initiative aimed at advancing the understanding of biological processes and disease mechanisms mediated by somatic mutations in human tissues. The Stage 2 Genome Characterization Centers (GCCs) will build on previous work, focusing on determining the functional consequences of somatic mutations in both healthy and clinically relevant tissue samples.
