The Sony Research Award Program funds cutting-edge academic research and fosters collaborations between faculty and Sony researchers. Its Faculty Innovation Award supports pioneering work across Sony’s interests in information, entertainment, and device technologies. Applicants choose the single listed keyword most relevant to their proposal; areas include computer vision, audio and speech, machine learning, robotics, sensing, creative tools, and devices.
The Focused Research Award supports collaborative work on a specified Sony research theme. Themes include multimodal generative models, anime expression and speech, AI-powered visual creation, digital humans for sports, personalization, content provenance, gameplay understanding, cloud-enabled social play, and interaction across devices.
