The Arts Curricular Innovation Grants (ACIG) Arts Teacher Institutes program supports organizations administering professional development in arts content for South Carolina arts teachers, other academic teachers, and arts administrators. Administered by the South Carolina Department of Education’s Office of Assessment and Standards, it funds tuition-free graduate courses and professional learning that directly support quality arts education and significantly improve student achievement. Institutes focus on standards-based arts curricula, instruction, and assessment.
The program supports 15 approved institutes. Eight, offered in collaboration with an accredited college or university, award three graduate credits or Continuing Education Units upon successful completion. Seven award educator certificate renewal credits based on syllabus contact hours. Institutes should be residential, including room and board unless otherwise stated, and evaluated using an SCDE-approved assessment instrument.
