Description
The South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) administers federal CDC funds for comprehensive community-based HIV prevention and integrated STD and viral hepatitis prevention. The program serves people with HIV and people at high risk for HIV, prioritizing populations and geographic areas most affected according to South Carolina epidemiological data. Its goals are early diagnosis, rapid linkage to care, medication adherence, and reduced transmission.
Required core services include in-house and outreach HIV testing, Partner Services referrals, prevention education, PrEP/nPEP screening and linkage, condom distribution, and harm reduction support. Optional funding supports syphilis screening, workforce-training administration, mobile and self-testing, and comprehensive PrEP/nPEP navigation. Services align with South Carolina’s HIV/AIDS Strategy and Ending the HIV Epidemic Plan, including collaboration with health departments on cluster and outbreak response.
