Description
South Carolina Humanities offers Planning Grants for preliminary work on projects that need detailed design before a larger undertaking moves forward. The grant supports the planning stage rather than implementation of the full project. South Carolina Humanities is the state’s humanities council and supports public humanities work that uplifts South Carolina stories.
A Planning Grant application must explain how its activities will lead to a final product reaching a South Carolina audience. Projects must involve a humanities scholar and show how the humanities contribute to the project’s goals. South Carolina Humanities announced a suspension of Planning Grants in April 2025, until further notice, following a loss of federal funding.
