    Description

    The South Pacific Islands Award provides funding for U.S. scholars to undertake research, teaching, or a combination of both in one or two countries among Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu. Scholars may propose projects in any academic discipline and design their activities in collaboration with a host institution. Activities can include classroom teaching, curriculum development, mentoring, advising on research capacity, and engaging with both academic and local communities. The award encourages independent engagement and cross-cultural exchange, aiming to support both scholarly advancement and local community development.
