The Southeast Asian Flagship Language Initiative–Indonesian (SEAFLI-Indonesian) offers U.S. undergraduate and graduate students, who are Boren Awardees, the opportunity for intensive, immersive Indonesian language study. The program consists of a domestic summer session at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, followed by a fall semester at the State University of Malang in Indonesia. Awardees can optionally extend their overseas study through the spring to pursue further language training, coursework, internships, or research. The initiative is designed to develop advanced language skills and deep cultural understanding, regardless of the participant’s starting proficiency.
