Description
The Southern Monterey County Foundation (SMCF), founded in 2014, is an affiliate fund of the Community Foundation for Monterey County. It supports projects and programs that strengthen community resources and services in Southern Monterey County, defined as King City and all points south, excluding the coastal region. Its mission is to inspire philanthropy and help strengthen these communities.
The 2026 priorities focus on health and wellness, including nutrition, mental health, physical exercise, and emotional well-being. Education priorities cover preschool through grade 12, particularly out-of-school literacy, math, and arts support, alongside youth leadership, career exploration, entrepreneurship skills, and financial literacy. Preference goes to locally based organizations with less access to other support, where a small grant can make a meaningful difference.
