Description
The Virginia Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission supports projects intended to grow and diversify the economies of tobacco-dependent communities in Southern and Southwest Virginia. Its regional committees consider projects in agribusiness, business and economic development, industrial sites and infrastructure, housing, and tourism. They also consider applications previously handled by the Commission’s Special Projects, R&D, and Agribusiness committees; education-related applications and those tied to a business expansion or community loan follow other routes.
The FY2027 Southern Virginia round solicits competitive applications for grants and loans. Its priorities include growing regional industries, supporting entrepreneurs, improving sites and infrastructure, attracting visitors, and bringing underused properties into productive use.
