Description
The European Space Agency (ESA), in collaboration with the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E), supports proof-of-concept studies and pilot projects that help European electricity transmission operators anticipate, detect and respond to disruptions. The call addresses physical, cyber and climate-related risks, extreme weather, and dependence on secure infrastructure.
Projects should demonstrate the operational value of existing Earth observation, satellite navigation, satellite communications and space weather services, complementing terrestrial solutions rather than developing space capabilities in isolation. Two themes address situational awareness for critical events and stronger operational resilience. The emphasis is on pre-operational commercial services driven by practical market demand, active user support, sustainable business models and measurable benefits from integrating space assets.
