The award celebrates outstanding works that demonstrate high quality in writing, concept, illustrations, professional presentation, editing, and design. Winners receive a cash prize, Spark seals for their books, opportunities for professional development (such as teaching digital workshops), and increased visibility through features in the SCBWI online bookstore and social media channels. The Spark Award aims to elevate and acknowledge exceptional independently published children’s literature.
