Description
The Special and Urgent Needs (SUN) Fund is Adirondack Foundation’s responsive grant resource for Adirondack communities and nonprofits during crises. It also helps organizations address short-term, unanticipated or unbudgeted funding gaps where a relatively small grant can sustain essential work.
The fund supports emergency building or mechanical repairs, essential resources whose absence severely hinders an organization’s work, and recovery following emergencies or disasters. Examples include repairing a roof damaged by unexpected weather, replacing a failed backup generator during a power outage, replacing disaster-damaged materials, and providing post-traumatic stress disorder training for school guidance counselors serving children in disaster-affected towns. Organizations may also support local businesses and families in disaster circumstances under specific charitable criteria.
