Funder: Northern New York Library Network

Due Dates (Anticipated): February 2027 (Application deadline)

Funding Amounts: $3,000–$12,000 for a 12-month project period

Summary: Supports member organizations in expanding access to special collections through sustainable projects that benefit their communities.

Key Information: Members may submit only one application, choosing either an Action Grant or a Special Collections Grant.

    Description

Northern New York Library Network’s Special Collections Grants support increased access to special library content and collections held by member organizations. Projects must fall outside the scope of New York Conservation and Preservation grants and/or Documentary Heritage and Preservation Services for New York (DHPSNY) programs. Funded work must make a demonstrable contribution to the organization’s community.

The program prioritizes projects that complement wider efforts and demonstrate the organization’s ability and commitment to sustain the work beyond the grant period. Digitization proposals should explain their connections to larger platforms such as NYS Historic Newspapers, NY Heritage, or Empire Archival Discovery Cooperative to maximize discovery and access. The program supports project work rather than normal library operations or continuation of existing programs.
