Description
The Special Fellow award is part of Blood Cancer United’s Career Development Program, formerly administered under The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society name. It supports postdoctoral researchers and instructors who have demonstrated success in their current positions and need another two to three years of training to become competitive for an independent position.
The award provides salary support while researchers continue developing a program directly relevant to hematologic malignancies or relevant premalignant conditions. Training takes place in a mentored research setting with a sponsor experienced in blood cancer-relevant research. Its central goal is to help awardees strengthen their prospects for independence by the end of the funding period, rather than fund project expenses.
