Description
British Heart Foundation Special Project Grants support extensive and imaginative investigations that remain focused on a distinct cardiovascular research project. The scheme covers basic science, studies using datasets only, population and patient-based cohort studies in epidemiology, and experimental medicine. It provides a route for work costing more than £500,000 or requiring longer than four years, with support available for up to five years.
The scheme is intended for senior researchers at established UK research institutions. It does not support work forming part of a renewable research programme, which belongs under Programme Grants. Clinical trials and hypothesis-based observational studies recruiting a specific patient population and costing more than £500,000 fall under Clinical Study Grants. Research costing up to £500,000 and lasting up to four years belongs under Project Grants.
