Description
The New Jersey Department of Health funds local agencies to deliver Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) services. The program aims to improve the nutrition and health of eligible pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to age five.
Funded services encourage WIC participants to use available health and social services and promote and support breastfeeding. NJ WIC Services, within the Department’s Division of Family Health Services, oversees the work. Local agencies must be able to deliver these services under state policies and federal program specifications.
