Special-Year Program Membership supports mathematicians and theoretical computer scientists in full-time research and active participation in IAS’s 2027–28 Expansion and Computation program.

Description
The Institute for Advanced Study’s School of Mathematics offers Special-Year Program Memberships to mathematicians and theoretical computer scientists who want to pursue full-time research within a focused academic-year program. For 2027–28, the program is Expansion and Computation, led by Irit Dinur, IAS’s Betsey Lombard Overdeck Theory of Computing Professor, with Dor Minzer of MIT as co-organizer.
Approximately 20 memberships provide researchers with time to devote themselves fully to their work while actively participating in the program. Memberships are usually for a full year, although one-term appointments are possible. The School welcomes researchers at all career stages and strongly encourages applications from mid-career scientists who are 5–15 years beyond their Ph.D.
