Description
The Georgia Department of Agriculture administers the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service’s Specialty Crop Block Grant Program in Georgia. The program funds research, education, and marketing projects that enhance specialty crop competitiveness and benefit Georgia’s specialty crop producers and the broader industry. Covered crops include fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, horticulture, Christmas trees, turf grass and sod, and nursery and greenhouse crops, including floriculture.
Georgia’s funding priorities are increasing specialty crop consumption in schools, enhancing food safety, helping the industry develop improved practices, increasing sales and marketability for commercially grown specialty crops, and supporting research. Applications are scored on their potential impact on Georgia’s specialty crop industry. Projects must identify measurable outcomes achievable within the grant period.
