Description
Survival and Flourishing Fund (SFF) Speculation Grants provide expedited funding outside SFF’s regular grant-recommendation process, the S-Process. Individual advisers called “Speculators” recommend grants from allocated budgets, allowing organizations to receive support without waiting several months for a regular round to distribute funding. The program is funded by donations from Jaan Tallinn.
Each grant is subsequently evaluated through the S-Process. That evaluation adjusts the recommending Speculator’s future grantmaking budget through non-binding “impact futures,” encouraging recommendations that a later round will consider highly valuable. Receiving a Speculation Grant also guarantees eligibility for consideration in an S-Process round, subject to that round’s application deadline. The rolling application requests both expedited funding and consideration in the next S-Process round.
