Description
Speculation Grants from the Survival and Flourishing Fund (SFF) are expedited grants designed to provide rapid funding for time-sensitive projects that align with SFF’s mission to address existential risks and promote long-term human flourishing. Unlike the standard S-Process grant-recommendation rounds, these grants are approved by designated individuals known as "Speculators," each with a set budget. Speculation Grants are intended for urgent opportunities that cannot wait for the next S-Process round. All recipients must still submit a full application and are subsequently evaluated in the next S-Process Grant Round, where the amount already received is counted against any further recommendations. The Speculator’s future grant-making budget is dynamically adjusted based on the impact of their recommendations as evaluated in the S-Process, incentivizing high-impact funding decisions.
