Description
This opportunity supports the rapid implementation and analysis of clinical trials with the potential to substantially impact the treatment or management of spinal cord injury (SCI). Projects may range from proof-of-concept to large-scale efficacy trials, and must address at least one of the program’s priority areas: acute injury intervention, secondary health effects, psychosocial well-being, or rehabilitation and regeneration. The award strongly encourages meaningful collaboration with members of the SCI lived-experience community and offers an Early-Career Partnership Option to bolster research capacity in the field.
Distinctive features include:
- Requirement to name at least two SCI community partners (e.g., lived-experience consultants, representatives of community-based organizations) as active collaborators.
- Option to apply as a single Principal Investigator (PI) or as a partnership, where at least one PI qualifies as early-career.
- Awards are made to organizations, not individuals, and separate awards are issued to each PI’s organization in partnership applications.
