Description
The City of Santa Fe’s Arts & Culture Department sponsors cultural activities, events, festivals, and programming that generate significant economic and/or quality-of-life benefits for the community. Support spans small community gatherings and larger events reflecting Santa Fe’s diverse arts and culture. The department primarily funds nonprofit arts-focused organizations and prioritizes events that are free to the public or offer sliding-scale and low-barrier access.
Funding comes from Lodgers’ Tax for the Arts, authorized by City Ordinance No. 1987-45 for the promotion and advertising of nonprofit attractions and nonprofit performing arts in Santa Fe. Events must promote tourism, with sponsorship funding directed primarily toward promotional, advertising, and marketing costs.
