The Society for Pediatric Pathology (SPP) Annual Research Grant fosters research within the Society by supporting investigators in pediatric pathology. It funds basic or applied research into any aspect of pediatric disease, including morphological, biochemical, behavioral, physiological, genetic, and epidemiological studies. The program is not restricted to a single disease or type of investigation.
The award supports the practical costs of conducting research, including equipment, supplies, research-related travel, salary supplementation, research services, and animal care. The SPP Research & Awards Committee reviews applications, considering scientific merit alongside the applicant’s background and career goals. Past funded projects have examined placental extracellular vesicles, pulmonary venoocclusive disease, epigenetic variation in pancreatic cancer risk, and mass-spectrometry-based diagnosis of Hirschsprung disease.
