Description
The Society for Research in Child Development (SRCD) established the Senior Distinguished Contributions Awards in 1977 to recognize members who have distinguished themselves over a sustained period in research and service. Ordinarily presented to more senior members at SRCD biennial meetings, these awards honor lifetime achievements rather than support new research projects.
The awards recognize contributions to scientific understanding of children’s development, research informing policy and practice, and understanding culture and context globally. They also celebrate extraordinary mentoring of developmental scientists and work that connects disciplines. An additional award area recognizes distinguished scholarship on child development in communities across the Majority World. Nomination letters may identify one or more listed award areas or describe another area of contribution.
